Overview

MoveIn is a comprehensive travel directory and discovery platform specifically built for Kashmir. The core problem it addresses is the fragmented and often informal nature of travel infrastructure in the region. Tourists struggle to find verified stays, local experiences, and authentic guides, while local operators lack accessible digital tools to establish a discoverable online presence. MoveIn serves as a centralized, trusted marketplace connecting these two groups seamlessly. From a technical perspective, the platform was architected using Next.js with TypeScript and PostgreSQL, managed via Prisma ORM. The decision to use Next.js was driven by the critical need for SEO optimization; Server-Side Rendering (SSR) and Static Site Generation (SSG) ensure that individual listing pages are fully indexable by search engines, which is vital for a discovery platform. Cloudinary was integrated for image management, providing automatic optimization and CDN delivery for the heavy visual assets typical of travel listings. The architecture also includes a dedicated owner dashboard featuring granular state management for handling listing availability, pricing updates, and booking inquiries. One of the primary challenges was designing a robust submission and approval workflow for local operators. Because data quality and verification are paramount for user trust, the system required a staging environment where submitted listings could be reviewed, edited, and approved by administrators before going live. Handling complex relational data—such as linking operators to multiple properties, specific amenities, and dynamic pricing tiers—demanded careful database schema design. The outcome is a performant, highly visual platform that not only provides a beautiful discovery experience for travelers but also empowers local businesses with a modern digital storefront.
