Overview

SaverMart is a fully customized, scalable e-commerce platform designed to deliver a premium shopping experience while solving the specific inventory and conversion challenges of a growing retail business. The primary problem it addresses is the limitation of generic e-commerce platforms (like Shopify or WooCommerce) which often lack deep, custom integration capabilities for proprietary AI recommendation systems and specialized order fulfillment workflows. The platform is architected using a decoupled modern stack: a Next.js frontend communicating via REST APIs with a robust Django and PostgreSQL backend. A pivotal technical decision was the integration of a custom AI-powered recommendation engine. This engine analyzes user browsing patterns, purchase history, and product metadata to serve highly personalized product suggestions, directly driving higher conversion rates and average order values. Secure payment processing is handled via Stripe integration, ensuring PCI compliance and seamless transaction flows. Redis was utilized for session management and caching high-traffic product catalog queries to maintain sub-second response times. A major challenge encountered during development was implementing the real-time order tracking system. The client required end-to-end visibility from placement through fulfillment, meaning the backend needed to integrate with third-party logistics APIs that were often slow or unreliable. I designed a resilient webhook consumption layer and implemented fallback polling mechanisms to ensure the frontend always displayed accurate status updates without degrading page performance. The outcome is a highly successful, live production platform that reliably serves over 1,000 active users, driving substantial business growth through performance optimization and personalized discovery.
